PULLY, Switzerland; 10 May 2021 ESPN+ will stream all 16 games of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Baseball Americas Qualifier live from Port St. Lucie and Palm Beach, Florida, beginning Monday, May 31, and continuing through the final Super Round game on Saturday, June 5. The winner of the eight-team tournament will earn one of six spots at the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, in July and August.
The national teams of USA, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela will play three round-robin games in the opening group round, with the top two teams of each group advancing to the Super Round on June 4 and 5. The team with the best record at the conclusion of the Super Round will earn the berth to Tokyo, and the 2nd- and 3rd-place teams will join Australia, Netherlands and Chinese Taipei at the WBSC Baseball Final Qualifier in Taiwan, June 16-20. Anibal Sanchez has decided with whom he will continue his baseball career, and it’s not the New York Yankees. Or any other MLB club, for that matter.
The Venezuelan Baseball Federation announced Monday that “Sanchez has accepted to represent his country at the WBSC Baseball Americas Qualifier,” which begins May 31st in Florida, and serves as a play-in tournament for the Tokyo Olympics.

PULLY, Switzerland; 07 May 2021 The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) today confirmed that the Chinese Baseball Association (CBA) has withdrawn its national team from the WBSC Final Baseball Qualifier, a qualification tournament for the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The WBSC said that in light of all available information the final qualifier will feature only five teams, and that the game schedule will reflect this. The WBSC has acknowledged the decision of the CBA without any further course of action, said the WBSC. This decision is considered final, and all focus will remain on the five participating teams in the WBSC Baseball Final Qualifier.

United States President Joe Biden has been invited to attend the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Baseball Americas Qualifier in Florida.
Biden was invited to the event, which is set to start at the end of this month, by St. Lucie County Commissioner Chris Dzadovsky.
The US President is a former amateur baseball player and a known supporter of the sport.
One spot at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympics will be on offer at the qualifier, scheduled to take place from May 31 to June 5.
The first three days will feature group stage matches.
