Believe it or not, Sonos has finally made a small, portable speaker for the great outdoors. The Sonos Roam is essentially what happens when you mash together the super-popular and not-at-all-portable Sonos One speaker with 2019âs chunky but travel-friendly Sonos Move. You can take it anywhere you please and itâll sound good in the process. Well, thatâs the proposition at least and itâs been a long time coming.
Even if youâre not an expert in these things youâll have noticed portable speakers have been âa thingâ for a good while now. From the JBL Flip 5 (£89) to Ultimate Earsâ Wonderboom 2 (£50) there are a bunch of options about, albeit not one with a Sonos badge on it. Naturally thatâs where the Roam comes in: a Coca-Cola bottle-sized speaker with IP67 dust and waterproofing and all the usual wizardry youâd expect from a Sonos device, this diminutive boombox fills an obvious niche in its makerâs product range.Â
