The 6th annual UNL Out of the Darkness Campus Walk went on amid the pandemic.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Did you know suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in our youth? Well a student organized walk brought hundreds of people together Sunday morning on UNL’s campus to bring awareness.
“This is our 6th year doing the ‘UNL Out of the Darkness Campus Walk’ and we are here advocating for suicide prevention through things like legislation, raising money and also just advocating to end the stigma with mental health,” Emma Sidel, the organizer of the event said.

MACON, Georgia(41NBC/WMGT) Mercer University is joining millions this weekend to draw attention to the fight for suicide prevention.
The walk is Sunday at noon, and supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention education’s and support programs.
The University says its goal is to encourage anyone struggling to seek help. Support that Claire Tolvanen says will make a big difference.
“I know that I personally struggled with suicide attempts and seeing that I wasn’t alone really helped me recover,” said Tovanen.
The walk will raise money for resources to help those in need.

This is Grand View s forth annual walk to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. In light of health and safety concerns, the walk will be open all day to allow for social distancing. The walk will be interactive with activities, memorials, and steps you can take to help reduce stigma and prevent suicide in our community. You can register online or the day of the event. Fundraising is encouraged but not required to participate in the Out of the Darkness Walk. Those who raise $100 by the day of the event will receive a free t-shirt. This year, we are having a Chapter-Wide event to bring schools together from across Western Pennsylvania to walk towards our goal to #stopsuicide! This will include activities and connections throughout the spring semester, leading up to a virtual ceremony and walk that is currently scheduled for April 17, 2021. Each school will have its own team and you can register to be a member of that team and join your school in walking for HOPE!
