New homeowners could qualify for tax break
DARKE COUNTY Attention homeowners: Are you receiving the Owner-Occupancy Credit on your Real Estate Taxes?
Carol Ginn, Darke County Auditor is announcing that homeowners of Residential and Agricultural Real Estate Properties who did not receive Owner-Occupancy Credit on their 2020 tax statements have until the last day in December (Dec. 31, 2021) to file an application for the reduction.
To determine if you received the Owner-Occupancy Credit, check your tax statement. If an amount appears on the Owner-Occupancy Credit Line, the reduction has been granted. No yearly renewal is required unless you moved or sold the property.

GREENVILLE, OHIO – The Darke County Republican Women’s Club (DCRWC) will host Darke County Auditor Carol Ginn as featured speaker Monday, May 10, 2021, 6 p.m., at the Shawnee Nature Center, 4267 State Route 502, in Greenville.
Ginn will be discussing the responsibilities and functions of the office she leads, and answering questions from the audience. Norma Knick, a former Darke County Auditor, met Ginn while she was working for the Ohio Department of Tax Equalization in Columbus. When Ginn moved to Greenville, it was Knick who hired her into the auditor’s office. Ginn worked closely with Janice Anderson who succeeded Knick as Darke County auditor. GREENVILLE Darke County Auditor Carol Ginn is pleased to announce that real estate property owners may claim a reduction in the taxable value of their real estate property for buildings that have been destroyed, torn down, or damaged regardless of the time of year the destruction or damage occurred.
Enacted legislation by the State of Ohio enables real estate property owners to claim the reduction at any time, regardless of the cause of the damage (fire, wind, etc., or torn down). The amount of reduction would be prorated on the basis of the calendar quarter in which the damages occurred.

GREENVILLE The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Monday afternoon to discuss the Darke Co. Auditor’s Office disaster recovery location and to accept a bid to rent 93.7 acres of the county’s North Farm. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Mike Stegall, and Larry Holmes were all present.
