The newest way to malign Israel: White supremacy

The newest way to malign Israel: White supremacy The newest way to malign Israel: White supremacy Here in the United States, the latest tactic of the anti-Israel movement is to connect the Jewish state to the racist sins of white supremacy. (May 31, 2021 / Jewish Journal) Israel-hatred is very much like Jew-hatred the haters will always find new ways to hate. If you have any doubt about the irrational hatred for Israel, just consider the United Nations. According to UN Watch, since 2015 there have been 112 General Assembly Resolutions against Israel, compared to a grand total of  zero for countries like China, Cuba, Venezuela, Libya, Turkey, Qatar and Pakistan.

The Newest Way to Malign Israel: White Supremacy

The Newest Way to Malign Israel: White Supremacy Here in the United States, the latest tactic of the anti-Israel movement is to connect the Jewish state to the racist sins of white supremacy. David Suissa is President of Tribe Media/Jewish Journal, where he has been writing a weekly column on the Jewish world since 2006. In 2015, he was awarded first prize for Editorial Excellence by the American Jewish Press Association. Prior to Tribe Media, David was founder and CEO of Suissa Miller Advertising, a marketing firm named “Agency of the Year” by USA Today. He sold his company in 2006 to devote himself full time to his first passion: Israel and the Jewish world. David was born in Casablanca, Morocco, grew up in Montreal, and now lives in Los Angeles with his five children.

Understanding the events on the ground between the Israelis and the Palestinians and what we should do about it

This is the way wars operate. In the ancient world one army would send out their Goliath while the other would send out their David. The winner takes all. The loser becomes the conquered at least theoretically. Even then, we might ask, why does David or Goliath have to die? If the kings want to go to war, why don’t they stand on the battlefield and fight themselves? Maybe then they would think twice before they sent others to die. What I intend to do in this post is two-fold: I hope to provide (in less than 750 words) some thoughts on the current crisis in Israel-Palestine.

The Americanization of the Israeli-Palestinian Debate

The Americanization of the Israeli-Palestinian Debate Matti Friedman Rereading Exodus, the schmaltzy 1958 best seller about Israel that became a Hollywood movie starring Paul Newman, I was surprised by something I hadn’t noticed as a teenager. The author, Leon Uris, describes a utopia of brave young pioneers in khaki shorts, farming when possible and fighting when necessary, quoting Bible verses as they hook up in ancient ruins, and so forth. But the novel isn’t just a fantasy about Israel, as I’d remembered, or even primarily that: It’s about America. Exodus says less about the country where it’s set than about an American tendency, one very much in evidence this month, to imagine people here in Israel as a reflection of themselves.
