Travelers from 7 countries banned from entering PH –BI

May 12, 2021 More than 430 Bureau of Immigration (BI) officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) were reshuffled and given new terminal assignments as part of the agency’s effort to prevent corruption among its personnel at the country’s premiere port. BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said a total of 356 fronltine immigration officers currently assigned at the NAIA were affected by the terminal rotation scheme which will be implemented on May 12. Morente bared that the BI reshuffle is part of the ongoing initiatives of the agency to cleanse and reorganize its ranks. It was learned that aside from BI officers manning the NAIA’s immigration booths, the terminal assignments of 79 immigration supervisors were also changed as part of the reshuffle.

May 07, 2021 THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) said it will implement an order from Malacañang on the imposition of restrictions for travelers coming from Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh starting May 7. The agency stressed that all passengers from the said countries, as well as those who have a travel history within the last 14 days from the date of their arrival in the Philippines, will be prohibited from entering the country starting May 7 until May 14. “Those who would be coming prior to May 7 will be allowed, but will be referred to the appropriate agencies to undergo a strict absolute facility-based 14-day quarantine and RT-PCR testing,” said BI Commissioner Jaime Morente.
