Buckeyes Ready for B1G Tourney

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team (18-3, 15-1 B1G) travels to Madison, Wis., this week for the 2021 Big Ten Tournament. Ohio State, the regular season co-champion and tournament’s No. 1 seed, earned a double bye and will open play in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. ET Friday against the winner of a match between No. 8 Wisconsin and No. 9 Michigan State. The winner of that match will compete in the semifinals at 3 p.m. Saturday, with the championship match set for 3 p.m. Sunday. Live scoring will be available for all matches, with live video available for matches that are held indoors. BTN Plus will stream the championship match.

No. 10 Buckeyes Host Penn State Saturday in Regular Season Finale

In the Rankings This week, the ITA released Top 50 rankings both computer based and via a coaches poll. Ohio State is No. 10 in the computer rankings and No. 9 in the coaches poll. In the USTA poll released Wednesday, Ohio State is No. 7. The squad started the year at No. 13 in the ITA rankings and moved into the Top 10 Jan. 27. New singles and doubles were released Wednesday. In singles, Irina Cantos Siemers is No. 12. Two Buckeye doubles teams are ranked – No. 62 Kolie Allen and Isabelle Boulais and No. 68 Lisa Hofbauer and Luna Dormet.   In the B1G Ohio State and Michigan enter the weekend tied at the top of the Big Ten standings with 14-1 records in B1G play, with Northwestern third (13-2).

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 8-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team (15-3, 12-1 B1G) hosts two Big Ten Conference matches this weekend. The Buckeyes will take on Minnesota (3-10, 3-10 B1G) at noon Friday and Wisconsin (8-7, 7-6 B1G) at noon Sunday. Both matches are scheduled to be played outdoors at the Auer Tennis Complex. In the event of inclement weather, they will be moved inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. There is no general public ticket availability for the Buckeyes’ home matches. No. 8 Buckeyes Head East for Matches at Maryland and Rutgers

Buckeye This and That Ohio State is 5-2 on the year and opened Big Ten play with wins over Purdue (6-1) and Indiana (7-0) last weekend. In the two matches last weekend, Lucia Marzal and Lisa Hofbauer each posted 2-0 records in both singles and doubles for the Buckeyes. Kolie Allen, Luna Dormet and Irina Cantos Siemers were all 2-0 in singles and Isabelle Boulais was 2-0 in doubles. The Buckeyes moved to No. 8 in the ITA Tennis rankings this week (from No. 10). The squad started the year at No. 13. Against Purdue last Friday, freshman Madeline Atway paired with Isabelle Boulais for a doubles win, marking Atway’s first collegiate doubles dual match victory. Her classmate, Tanisha Kashyap, posted a victory in singles against the Boilermakers for her first collegiate singles dual match win.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 10-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team opens its Big Ten season with two home matches this weekend. The Buckeyes (3-2) host Purdue (0-0) at 10 a.m. Friday and Indiana (0-0) at noon Sunday in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. Live streaming and live scoring will be available at the links above. There is no general public admission for the matches. Buckeye This and That Ohio State is 3-2 on the year, with home wins over Syracuse and then-No. 10 Virginia on ITA Kickoff Weekend and a victory against No. 6 Georgia Tech at the ITA Indoor Team National Championship last weekend, along with losses to No. 1 North Carolina and No. 10 Northwestern at ITA Indoors.
