Army showcases swarm drones at Army Day Parade, plans to scale up capability soon
Army termed the drone system a disruption technology, which can hit targets 50 km inside enemy territory. The system has been developed in collaboration with a Bengaluru startup.

New Delhi: The Army Friday showcased for the first time swarm drones offensive capability by carrying out a simulated Kamikaze attack on targets, including enemy tanks, fuel depots, terror hideout and radar positions, among others, at the Army Day Parade held in Delhi cantonment.
While what the Army showcased was a swarm of 75 drones, including mother UAVs that release smaller systems, it aims to increase the capability to 1,000 such systems in the coming months.

New Delhi, Jan 15: The Indian Army carried out a live demonstration of Drone Swarming capability using 75 indigenously designed and developed drones which executed an array of Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled simulated offensive missions and close support tasks during the Army Day Parade held at Delhi Cantt on 15 January 2021.
This demonstration is a recognition of the Indian Army s steady embrace of emerging and disruptive technologies to transform itself from a manpower intensive to a technology enabled force to meet future security challenges. The Indian Army is investing heavily into Artificial Intelligence (AI), Autonomous Weapon Systems, Quantum Technologies, Robotics, Cloud Computing and Algorithm Warfare in order to achieve a convergence between the Army s warfighting philosophies and military attributes of these technologies.

Today, the Indian Army is celebrating the 73rd Army Day. Every year Army Day is celebrated at all Army Command headquarters in order to honour the soldiers of our country who have set the greatest example of selfless service and brotherhood.
The nation also pays tribute to the valour of the bravehearts on this day and thank them for their selfless service.
Last year, the showcase event of the Army Day was the annual parade at the Cariappa Parade Ground in New Delhi. The parade was reviewed by Army chief General M M Naravane. He will also present gallantry and other awards to his personnel.
