MURFREESBORO, Tenn. Derrick Wharton and Jordan Plumb traveled totally different paths to MTSU’s upcoming spring commencements in May. They were among dozens of student veterans and cadets recognized Wednesday (April 28) at the spring Graduating Veterans Stole Ceremony.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. Charlie Noel will discuss VA Whole Health in next week’s Roll Call MTSU Veteran Speaker Series.

New Military Service honor expands MTSU Distinguished Alumni Awards; nomination deadline nears Mar 05, 2021 at 10:00 am by WGNS
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. An expansion of the MTSU National Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Awards involves the addition of a new Military Service honor.
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2021-22 Distinguished Alumni recognitions. The deadline to submit is Friday, March 26
The awards, which will include an overall Distinguished Alumni recipient and Young Alumni Achievement honoree, recognize those with prolonged records of achievement who have made outstanding contributions to society and who exemplify the ideals for which MTSU stands in extraordinary ways.
People are encouraged to nominate someone online for an award. Criteria and nomination forms and other information can be found at www.mtalumni.com/awards. Alumni, MTSU faculty, staff and students and university friends are welcome to submit nominations.
First Female Eagle Scouts From Mid-State; 4 From Boro Feb 01, 2021 at 08:22 pm by WGNS
(NASHVILLE) On Monday evening (2/1/2021) twenty-one young women from Middle Tennessee were recognized from the stage at the Grand Ole Opry House for being among the first females in the nation to reach Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouts BSA.
Four of the new Eagles were members of Murfreesboro Troop 2019 at Trinity United Methodist Church. In fact, that group along with Troop 22 in Brentwood tied for first place in having the most Eagle Scouts.

Along with his dog Loki, MTSU student veteran Orrin Farmer visits the MTSU Veterans Memorial site outside the Tom H. Jackson Building on the west side of campus recently. An aerospace professional pilot major, Farmer, who was in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years, was one of dozens of military-centered students who received assistance from a United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties $10,000 grant in 2020, providing help to he and his wife during the stressful COVID-19 pandemic.
