Night School Studios developed
Oxenfree as their first video game title and this indie game was a hit. The game follows a young teenage girl named Alex who heads to an abandoned local island with some friends. What was meant to be a party turned into a horror trip as Alex quickly discovers there is some supernatural element living on this island. Instead of a night full of partying, drinking, and hanging with friends, Alex is left gathering everyone up while finding a way off this island.
This is a mature story as well where we dive into a variety of tough topics. Furthermore, the game is choice-based so while you go through the narrative, your choices may alter the ending you’ll receive. Kowloon Nights backs indies with funding deals for 23 titles
Game investment fund Kowloon Nights has agreed to finance 23 titles from a range of indie studios.
The spate of funding deals has seen Kowloon back projects from notable studios including Oxenfree developer Night School Studios, Spiritfarer creator Thunder Lotus,
OlliOlli developer Roll7.
Kowloon said it wants to help creators chart their own destiny, and as such has taken a developer-first approach to funding by letting its partners retain ownership of their IP and sequel rights, implement a flexible payment schedule, maintain full creative control over their projects, and earn revenue from day one.
Kowloon Nights Is Funding 23 New Games, Including Ones From Teams Behind Spiritfarer And Oxenfree
It s a big day for indie game fans, as games fund company Kowloon Nights dedicates $100 million (£73.2m) towards 23 upcoming and unannounced titles.
The studios that will receive a portion of that one hundred million dollars include Thunder Lotus (Spiritfarer), Night School Studios (Oxenfree, Afterparty) and Sabotage Studio (The Messenger). Some studios are being funded to create their very first games, such as surreal RPG She Dreams Elsewhere, cutesy Stardew-like Garden Story, and a game called Project Kafka by fkkcloud, which is a hack-n-slash dating sim inspired by Persona.
Oxenfree TV Series in the Works

Oxenfree television series is once again in the works, it has been revealed. You might recall that, years back, Robert Kirkman s Skybound Entertainment had announced a partnership with
Oxenfree developer Night School Studios to transform the video game into a larger franchise brand with the likes of a possible film adaptation and more. While nothing of significance ever came from the announcement, it would appear that Night School Studios is moving forward with a series adaptation though not with Skybound. At the time, we were such a small studio we were four or five people when most of the Skybound stuff was being worked through, Night School Studio co-founder Adam Hines told Digital Trends in a recent interview when asked about the Skybound deal.
