With Juneteenth coming up, here are some local events you can participate in and celebrate.
Juneteenth is the national celebration of the freeing of the slaves honored. Taking place on June 19, it marks the day in 1865 when the Emancipation Proclamation was first read in Texas, becoming the last Southern state to hear the news.
Although it is not an official national holiday, people all over the country still observe it.

Cinemas
Where once we took them for granted, the big screen feels like a distant dream for many nowadays. Cinemas will be throwing open their doors once more from the 17th with extra spacing and other measures to keep viewers safe. There are plenty of big productions coming out including Oscar winner Nomadland, as well as Godzilla vs Kong, Peter Rabbit 2, and horror film Spiral.
