Off The Menu: Cleanliness key to customers return

Jim Sullivan, a well-known consultant and service industry guru, has recently been talking and writing about still another pandemic threat to the restaurant industry, one he’s dubbed “COVID-coma.”
As vaccination programs continue to expand and many consumers consequently venture out again, Sullivan warns independent restaurant operators not to be complacent about the experience of fully reopening.
The competition, mostly in the form of the major restaurant brands, have turned the disruption COVID-19 caused into a creative force. They’ve upgraded their menus, sharpened their service game, developed slick digital ordering platforms, and generally positioned themselves to more effectively compete for consumer dining-away-from-home dollars.

After over 10,000 individual votes over five rounds of voting, our March Madness competition has reached its conclusion.
Earning almost 80 percent of the overall vote, Stratford s Two Roads Brewing Company has secured first place in the tournament.
Placed as the 12-seed in the bracket, Two Roads was able to beat out numerous higher seeds in order to secure its championship win.
No prize will be awarded by winning this competition. Two Roads Brewing Company is located at 1700 Stratford Avenue in Stratford.

NORWALK, CT Yard House, a national chain restaurant and bar, which bills itself as having the world s largest selection of beers on tap, opened Monday in The SoNo Collection mall in South Norwalk.
The new site is the chain s 83rd location, and it s first in Connecticut. Yard House also has restaurants in Arizona, California, Texas, New Jersey, New York, Florida, Colorado and several other states. Each Yard House is literally built around its expansive bar, which serves as the centerpiece of the restaurant, a spokesperson said. A selection of taps are reserved for local and regional beers. In Norwalk, these include Bright Blonde Ale by Half Full Brewery from Stamford, Geobunny Hazy IPA by Nod Hill Brewery in Ridgefield, and Road to Ruin Imperial IPA by Two Roads Brewing Company in Stratf
