Govt to form new employment policy to beat Covid blues

(MENAFN - IANS) y Navneet Mishra New Delhi, Feb 21 (IANS) The Narendra Modi-led Central government is likely to formulate a new national employment policy to generate jobs that have dwindled due to the Covid-induced crises. According to sources, the government would collect the necessary data by conducting surveys in order to formulate appropriate policy in every sector. For this, the Labour Bureau of India of the Ministry of Labour and Employment has been involved. The Labour Bureau has got responsibility for five types of all-India surveys. The personnel designated for the survey that will go on over a month would be trained and then the field survey will start. Mahesh Manjrekar shares his take on OTT censorship

At the same time, he feels filmmakers should be responsible and not take advantage of lack of censorship in the digital space. Manjrekar s upcoming web series 1962: The War In The Hills, is a 10-episode war drama that offers a glimpse into the lives of soldiers who stood rock solid against Chinese troops, dedicating their lives for the security of the nation. I feel we should be very particular and careful about what we want to show. I have no worries because my series is one which the entire family can sit and watch together without feeling uncomfortable. But I feel we should be a little more responsible about what we are showing. Yes, I would not like to see censorship on OTT content but there are some people who really take advantage of this, Mahesh Manjrekar told IANS.

Govt may look at AMC/ARC model for asset monetisation programme

(MENAFN - IANS) y Subhash Narayan New Delhi, Feb 21 (IANS) The government may consider asset management and asset reconstruction company model to monetise non-core assets of public sector enterprises (PSEs). AMC and ARC or a bad bank has been proposed for the banking sector in Budget 2021-22 to acquire, manage and turnaround bad loans. The budget also talked about asset monetisation to unlock the true value of the assets lying with the government entities. The plan now is to create a special purpose vehicle (SPV) under the government route that could take the shape of an AMC/ARC and help maximise the value of the assets of the PSEs.

Road connectivity project for LWE areas moving abysmally slow (IANS Exclusive)

(MENAFN - IANS) y Rajnish Singh New Delhi, Feb 21 (IANS) Of the two major road connectivity projects being run in Left Wing Extremist (LWE)-affected regions of the country, the rate of progress of the recent one launched in 2016 is under criticism for its slow pace as it could only complete one-fifth of the sanctioned road length in over three-and-half years. With the current speed calculation, the 9,338 km project will take over 15 years in completing its goal. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has faced strong criticism over the issue by a parliamentary committee for the abysmally slow progress of Road Connectivity Projects in LWE affected Areas (RCPLWE) one of the major developmental initiatives of the government in nine key Maoist-hit states covering 44 districts.

Govt sanctioned 310 projects under Namami Gange, 116 completed

(MENAFN - IANS) y Anand Singh New Delhi, Feb 21 (IANS) The Central government had sanctioned 310 projects under the Namami Gange programme by January last year for various activities such as sewerage infrastructure and river front development at a cost of Rs 28,791 crore, out of which 116 projects have been completed so far. The details were shared by the government in reply to the recommendation made by the standing committee on water resources, whose report was shared in the Lok Sabha on February 9 this year. In its reply to the committee, the government said, As on January 31, 2020, a total of 310 projects were sanctioned under the Namami Gange programme for various activities such as sewerage infrastructure, ghats and crematoriums, river front development, river surface cleaning, institutional development, biodiversity conservation, afforestation and rural sanitation at a total cost of Rs 28,791 crore.
