The shelter said the decision was made due to the overwhelming demand for low-cost veterinary care.
To support the shelter and to provide a service to the community, CCAS opened its low-cost veterinary clinic in August. With the pandemic still in full swing, the clinic said gearing up to meet the demand was not without challenges.
“It took us a while to get all the people and systems in place” Executive Director Liz McCauley said. “We are still receiving hundreds of calls a week, but we have added additional administrative and veterinary staff to handle the demand. We’re ready to go full steam ahead six days a week.”
