Supercharged NFDA Drive My Career event to focus on apprentice wellbeing

Click the thumbs up >The health and wellbeing of automotive apprentices will be at the heart of a “Supercharged” free online event hosted by the National Franchised Dealers Association’s (NFDA) Drive My Career campaign. Announced to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week (May 10 to 16), the June 9 event has been created in response to feedback received by Drive My Career during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.  Responding to a survey held in December, 73% of 227 the campaign’s target audience of young people aged 16 to 24 said they struggled with their mental health during the pandemic and 78% would be interested in learning more about the topic.

Launching the recruitment drive today (May 10), the AM100 car retail group’s divisional aftersales director, Matthew Timmons, described the opportunities on offer as “is an amazing prospect for a significant number of young people”. Potential technicians, service advisors and parts advisors are among the roles being recruited for at the Farnell JLR sites, with training set to be delivered to successful candidates on-the-job and via classroom-based training centred on five regionalised state-of-the-art JLR Training Academies.

NFDA celebrates Drive My Career Apprentice Takeover success on social media

Click the thumbs up >The National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) has been celebrating the success of the third Drive My Career ‘Apprentice Takeover’ campaign run across social media. Aiming to raise awareness of apprenticeship opportunities across the automotive retail sector during National Apprentice Week 2021 (February 8 to 14), the initiative used the hashtag #DMCApprenticeTakeover to achieved 180 mentions and more than 500 interactions – reaching over 650,000 people. NFDA chief executive, Sue Robinson, said: “Following such a difficult year, it was extremely positive to see franchised dealers endorsing their workforce and investing into the future generation. “Reading the inspiring stories of apprentices and seeing their excitement to be part of our industry has been encouraging.”
