Wakili, sons arraigned on kidnapping, murder charges, remanded

Punch Newspapers Sections Published 17 March 2021 A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, has ordered that Iskilu Wakili, the Fulani herder accused to masterminding killings, rape and kidnapping in Kajola in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State and his two sons be remanded in prison custody. The order was delivered by the Chief Magistrate, Emmanuel Idowu, following the arraignment of Wakili, his sons; Abu (45) and Samaila (27) by the police. They were charged with conspiracy, murder, kidnapping and armed robbery. The magistrate did not take the pleas of the accused persons for want of jurisdiction in the case.

The court remanded Wakili along his sons, Abu, 45 and Samaila, 27, as well as Aliyu Manu, 20, after charging them with six counts bordering on conspiracy, murder, kidnapping and armed robbery. Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Idowu, who did not take plea of the suspects for want of jurisdiction, adjourned the matter till May 17. Idowu ordered the police to return the case file to the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution.
