A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, has ordered that Iskilu Wakili, the Fulani herder accused to masterminding killings, rape and kidnapping in Kajola in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State and his two sons be remanded in prison custody.
The order was delivered by the Chief Magistrate, Emmanuel Idowu, following the arraignment of Wakili, his sons; Abu (45) and Samaila (27) by the police.
They were charged with conspiracy, murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.
The magistrate did not take the pleas of the accused persons for want of jurisdiction in the case.

Oyo State Commissioner of Police Ngozi Onadeko says the seven persons arraigned in connection with the Shasha crisis are to be released. Speaking to journalists on Monday, Onadeko said the seven persons are to be released following the receipt of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) that those arrested had “no case to answer.”
She explained that the DPP’s advice was just received that the accused persons had no case to answer, and should be released. This is just as the police boss cleared the police of bias or favouritism, saying the suspects were handed over to them by the military. Onadeko disclosed that the suspects were with the Nigerian Army, which arrested them for 11 or 12 days, before they were handed over to the police.

He said the meeting was convened to discuss the ultimatum and address the security challenges in the southwest.

Meanwhile, the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum on Sunday demanded reversal of the last Monday’s order by the Ondo State governor.
AYCF President Shettima Yerima, in a statement, said: “We must guide against any act that will create a war-like situation in Nigeria, we must learn from mistakes of the past and avoid a repeat because its consequences may be unimaginable,” he said.
