Four men allegedly break into Police College Lagos, steal ceiling fans, others

Four men on Thursday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly breaking into the Police College, Lagos and stealing aluminium window frames and glasses.
The police charged Jerry Andrew, 31; Babagida Ahmed, 20; Abdul-raman Supi, 27; and Saliu Muhammed, 35 with conspiracy, burglary and theft.
The prosecution counsel, Insp Emmanuel Ajayi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Feb. 17 at about 12. 30a.m in Ikeja.
He said that the defendants also stole two ceiling fans and two 48-inche mattresses.
The offences, Ajayi said, contravened the provisions of sections 287, 307 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
A 22-year-old bus conductor, Obinna Igwe, who pleaded guilty to extorting money from people using cutlass to threaten them, was on Monday in Lagos remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Ajayi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences with others still at large on Jan.12 at Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos.
Ajayi said an Anti-Robbery Squad caught the defendant with two Infinix phones and one Tecno phone suspected to have been stolen.
He said that the defendant was arrested because he could not give any explanation on how he got the cell phones.
