In a breaking development, former AIADMK Minister M Manikandan has been booked for rape based on a complaint lodged by Tamil actor Shantini Theva, as per sources. Adayar women s police station confirmed on Sunday that the AIADMK leader was booked under various sections of IPC, including being charged with rape. Tamil actor Shantini Theva has accused former AIADMK Minister & leader M Manikandan of cheating on her after being in a relationship with her for five years and lodged a complaint against him on Saturday.

Sharda Ambildhage and Anil Sangme, who worked with the Baner COVID centre as cleaning staff, were arrested by Charurshringi police late night on Friday, and were produced in a
district court on Saturday. After hearing the case, the court ordered
police custody for the duo for four days.
Moreover, the police have recovered gold jewellery and mobile phones worth Rs 1,34,000 from the duo.

VADODARA: A disc jockey and four others were arrested for allegedly flouting coronavirus-induced night curfew guidelines in Vadodara in Gujarat, police said on Saturday.
A patrolling team of Fatehgunj police found them dancing to loud music past midnight at a marriage function organised near Fulwadi crossroad here, an official said. They were not wearing masks or maintaining social distancing. Based on a complaint filed at Fatehgunj police station on Saturday, DJ Johnny Mcwan, Faizal Pathan, Mohammad Pathan, Ibrahim Rathod and Zakir Rathod were arrested, he said.
Writing the judgment, CJI Ramana noted the disturbing trend of dowry deaths accounting for 40-50% of homicidal death of women in India and said it was because of the “pestiferous nature of dowry harassment, wherein married women are being subjected to cruelty because of covetous demands by husband and his relatives”.
