Subscriber only GAMBLING debts led a young father to buy several stolen caravans cheaply before rebirthing and selling them using a legal loophole. The man was caught when a woman negotiating to buy one of the caravans went to police after becoming suspicious. He was investigated and charged in relation to four stolen caravans worth more than $115,000. Daniel John David Wood went before Ipswich District Court for sentence this week, - three years after his crimes were committed. Wood, 34, from Augustine Heights, pleaded guilty to seven charges, including four of unlawful possession of caravans; fraud; aggravated fraud; and producing dangerous drugs.

BRONCOS young gun Tesi Niu has been told to kerb his speed when off the field after getting busted driving unlicensed because of a pile of demerit points for speeding.
When 19-year-old Niu went before an Ipswich court on Friday morning, Magistrate Terry Duroux counted 18 demerit points against the Broncos player’s name.
The court heard Niu was on his way home from training when intercepted and charged.
As a result his licence suspension will stretch out for six more months.
Fanitesi Niu, 19, from Inala, pleaded guilty on Friday to driving when unlicensed due to the allocation of demerit points at Redbank Plains on Wednesday, February 10.

Subscriber only A DAD who lost his temper when accusing a neighbour of filming his toddler daughter has been jailed for bashing the man. Ipswich Magistrates Court heard that the intoxicated dad jumped over the fence and bashed the man in the front yard before the bloodied neighbour retreated back inside his home. The father took a shower before returning to the injured man s house and threatening him. Father of six, Anthony Neal Woodham, 43, who now lives in Leichhardt, pleaded guilty to unlawfully assaulting the man causing bodily harm in Brassall on September 27, 2019; and unlawfully entering a dwelling to assault.

It was a near-miss with a jail cell for Finnie, the owner of Gold Coast business Kamikaze Motorsport. Magistrate Dennis Kinsella slammed Finnie s driving record, saying he was someone screaming out to go to jail. Your traffic history is anti-social. Is it disregard, or just selfishness. Or you just do not get it, I don t know, Mr Kinsella said. In facts put before Ipswich Magistrates Court, Finnie was behind the wheel of a white Nissan Silvia coupe on Ipswich Motorway just before 1am when it zipped past a motorcycle police officer at speed.

Subscriber only A PRISONER busted with a needle and syringe wedged between the cheeks of his buttocks then refused to tell police how it came to be there. Ipswich Magistrates Court heard officers in the Ipswich watch-house grew suspicious after seeing an odd interaction between prisoners when viewing security footage. Carlin Tony Lee Oxenbridge, 35, from North Booval, pleaded guilty to failing to take reasonable care and precaution with a needle and syringe on Wednesday, January 13. He appeared from jail via video-link. Prosecutor Sergeant Paul Caldwell said officers watching CCTV of the exercise yard saw what looked to be something being handed between prisoners.
