Teen opted out during delivery driver robbery

Premium Content Subscriber only A TEENAGER who took part in the robbery of pizza delivery driver has been sentenced to probation. An Ipswich court on Tuesday heard the teen would avoid spending time behind bars because he left the scene before more serious incidents occurred. Ayii Mabior Arok Amou, 19, from Goodna, pleaded guilty to taking part in a robbery while in company and while armed with an offensive weapon on December 5, 2019. He also pleaded guilty to entering premises (the Pizza Hut delivery driver’s car) and stealing. Crown prosecutor Victoria Adams told Ipswich District Court the stealing was committed by Amou when he reached into the driver’s car and stole a bag that held personal items including money, a driver’s licence and bank cards.

Bay man, teen arrested after stolen car driven into servo

Premium Content Subscriber only A Torquay man and a 15-year-old Eli Waters teen have been arrested after a stolen car was allegedly driven into a service station at Boonah on Saturday morning. Just after 1am, police will allege two people attended a Walter Street petrol station in an Isuzu MU-X reported stolen from Warwick and rammed the front doors, gaining entry inside. The pair attempted to steal cigarettes however were unsuccessful and re-entered the vehicle before driving away. At 2.20am, police observed the stolen car allegedly being dangerous along Salisbury Road and successfully deployed a tyre deflation device on old Toowoomba Road.

15yo arrested over early morning servo ram-raid

Premium Content Subscriber only A 15-YEAR-OLD boy was among two people arrested over the alleged ram raid of a Boonah service station early Saturday morning. It is understood two males, believed to be traveling in a stolen vehicle, intentionally drove into the Walter St site just after 1am. Police alleged the pair gained entry by ramming the front doors, using an Isuzu MU-X which had been reported stolen from Warwick. The pair allegedly attempted to steal cigarettes, however, were unsuccessful. It is understood the pair fled the scene in the same vehicle following their failed attempt. The two, however, were reportedly observed by police driving dangerously along Salisbury Rd about 2.20am - almost an hour later.

BREAKING: Council CEO announces resignation

CEO of Ipswich City Council David Farmer has announced his resignation, ending his two-year tenure. Mr Farmer, who joined the Council in early 2019, confirmed on Tuesday he would vacate the post in April to take up as CEO of Central Coast Council in New South Wales. His resignation comes on the back of public scrutiny over the backlog of mowing in public spaces following summer rain. In February, Mr Farmer had been authorised to take immediate action , including freeing up money in the budget, to rectify the issue. Ipswich City Council also confirmed a report was now being prepared to improve council s maintenance response during future high-growth periods.
