NEW DELHI: As the brutal second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic continues unabated, four players pulled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday. While Ravichandran Ashwin is the first Indian cricketer to do so this season, Andrew Tye (Rajasthan Royals), Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson (Royal Challengers Bangalore) flew back to Australia.
Ashwin, who turned up for Delhi Capitals against Sunrisers Hyderabad in his hometown Chennai on Sunday night, announced his decision on Twitter. “I would be taking a break from this year’s IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times. I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you Delhi Capitals,” read Ashwin’s tweet.

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India: FSS (Financial Software and Systems), a globally leading provider of integrated payment products and India’s largest payments processor, and NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL, International arm of National Payment Corporation of India), have signed a strategic partnership to expand UPI (Unified Payment Interface) rails in international markets.
India is among the first countries globally to launch real-time payments rails, processing close to three billion transactions a month on the UPI network. Several governments and regulators globally, and emerging markets, in particular, are keen on modelling NPCI’s success in building an interoperable, real-time payments infrastructure, supporting the long-term growth of the digital payments’ economy.

AHMEDABAD (Gujarat): Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Prasidh Krishna has said the side had clearly made a plan for Punjab Kings batsman Shahrukh Khan ahead of their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 encounter.
Shahrukh is Punjab Kings fifth-highest run-scorer in the ongoing tournament and the batsman has clubbed runs on important occasion or when the side has suffered a collapse.
Prasidh was the pick of KKR bowlers as he dismissed Deepak Hooda, Shahrukh Khan and Chris Jordan. The right-handed pacer said KKR s plan was to be as disciplined as they can and bowl tight lengths against Punjab Kings batsmen.

AHMEDABAD: Royal Challengers Bangalore rode on an AB de Villiers special and a solid final over from Mohammad Siraj to inflict a one-run defeat on Delhi Capitals in the IPL here on Tuesday.
The ever-reliable de Villiers scored an unbeaten 42-ball 75 to power RCB to 171 for five before their bowlers, led by Harshal Patel (2/37), Mohammed Siraj (1/44) Kyle Jamieson (1/32), restricted Delhi to 170 for four.
Needing 14 off the final over, Delhi fell agonisingly short as Rishabh Pant s back-to-back fours off the remaining two balls did not prove to be enough.
Shimron Hetmyer (53 not out off 25) displayed some sensational hitting while batting alongside Pant (58 not out off 48) but they could not take their team over the line.
