Death of 11-month-old girl: Caregiver denied bail

+ The caregiver who is facing prosecution for allegedly causing the death of an 11-month old girl at a preschool at Abgogba has made her second appearance at the Adentan District Court. Clara Ayan Ampah, was arrested after the parents of the baby girl reported their daughter’s death to the Agbogba Police on May 18, this year. This was after a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) captured her pushing food down the toddler’s throat in the school, where she worked. The baby was pronounced dead when she was taken to the North Legon Hospital, thereafter. Charged provisionally with negligently causing harm, Clara has had her plea reserved.

Driver and his mate jailed for assaulting a passenger

+ A driver and his mate who assaulted a passenger on board their vehicle, have been sentenced to a total of four years imprisonment by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) court. Eric Amponsah, 27, the driver was given a three-year sentence while Siaka Alhassan 25, the mate, received a year’s sentence. They pleaded not guilty to the charge but the court presided by Mr Abdul Razak Musah, found them guilty after the trial. Police Chief Inspector, Francisca Nyarko told the court that the complainant, Haruna Hamid, was a photographer, while the convicts were in charge of a Nissan Urvan bus with registration number AS 591-16.

Chainsaw operator jailed 5 years for stealing

+ A 27-year-old chainsaw operator has been sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Court for unlawful entry and stealing at Kwadaso Estates in Kumasi. Salifu Mohammed is said to have forcefully entered the house of the complainants and made away with laptops, mobile phones, wrist watches and cash. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted on his own plea by the court presided by Mr Abdul Razak Musah. Police Chief Inspector Francisca Nyarko told the court that, the complainants were a trader and a student who reside in the same house at Kwadaso Estates in Kumasi, while the convict was a chainsaw operator at Boko, in the Atwima Kwanwoma District.
