NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Residents of Makeen in South Waziristan tribal district called off their protest after talks between Inspector General Frontier Corps (South) Maj-Gen Umar Bashir and elders of Mehsud tribe on Thursday, officials said.
Hundreds of inhabitants of Makeen organised a sit-in protest near Tehsil Building against the killing of two youths, allegedly by paramilitary personnel three days ago. The residents had also laid bodies of the slain boys named Kalam Din and Inam Ullah in front of the Tehsil Building.
CHAGAI: Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC), southern Balochistan, Major General Ayman Bilal Safdar, urged the local people in Washuk to stay away from anti-peace elements.
According to a press release issued here on Friday, the FC inspector general said this while addressing a jirga at the FC headquarters in Washuk.
He said the anti-peace elements could never be well-wishers of the masses as they were “working on a foreign agenda”.
He termed peace a gateway to prosperity, saying that Washuk district could be turned into a developed area through collective efforts.
Major General Safdar said that establishment of educational institutions in Washuk was aimed to provide a bright future to the new generation. He said “the law and order in this area is the outcome of public support and best relationship between the security forces and local administration”.
GWADAR: The Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) Balochistan (South), Maj Gen Ayman Bilal Safdar visited the University of Turbat.
Vice Chancellor of the University of Turbat Prof Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir and his staff welcomed the IGFC.
Besides conducting a meeting with the vice chancellor, Maj Gen Safdar had interactive sessions with faculty members and students in the video conference room and multipurpose hall.
Speaking on the occasion, Maj Gen Safdar highlighted the role of teachers and students in the nation building. He said that universities could play an effective role in development and prosperity of the nation. He asked students to pay full attention to acquiring education as they were the future of the nation.

250 police recruits pass out in Mohmand

GHALLANAI: Two hundred and fifty police recruits after their completion of mandatory training passed out in Bhai Dag subdivision in Mohmand tribal district on Saturday.
The passed out personnel were earlier recruited as Khassadars and later integrated into regular police force after all the tribal areas were merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The Khassadars were imparted training for three months by the Frontier Corps, a paramilitary wing of the army, at Bhai Dag subdivision near the Pak-Afghan border.
Deputy Inspector General Frontier Corps (DIGFC) Sajid Majeed was the chief guest on the occasion.
