Gurgaon: Instead of celebrating April Fool, the residents of new sectors gave a green twist and celebrated the day as ‘April Cool’. The resident’s group called United Association of New Gurugram (UANG) is celebrating a month-long ‘April Cool’ to spread awareness about the increasing global warming. As many as 35 housing societies, including NBCC Heights, Regal Gardens, Sare Homes, Microtek Greenburg, Vatika K Block, G-21 and Supertech 77, have come forward to join the initiative. The residents have pledged to make the surrounding more cool by planting saplings at various places. Dispute led to dairy owner s murder in Gurgaon, two held | Gurgaon News

Gurgaon: Two men were arrested on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in the murder of a 24-year-old dairy owner on New Railway Road. The crime took place on February 22 and the deceased was identified as Manish, a resident of Basai who along with his dairy business ran a tempo on New Railway Road, police said. According to Manish’s father Budhraj, the duo were planning to go to Sadar Bazar on February 22 to purchase a container and some cattle food. “Manish dropped me near a temple at Feroz Gandhi Colony on his two-wheeler and went to bring his friend Shivjeet’s SUV,” said Budhraj adding that Manish was about to start the SUV when two youths came near him and fired indiscriminately. “Hearing gunshots, I ran towards Shivjeet’s house and spotted two youths, who were wearing masks, running towards the main road,” said Budhraj adding that he found his son lying in a pool of blood inside the car.

Gurgaon: A Pied Harrier was spotted by members of Delhi Bird Society on March 25 in Chandu Budhera. This is the second sighting of the species in NCR, after a gap of 13 years, birders said, adding that this migratory bird is rarely seen in this part of the country. It comes from Mongolia, South Korea and Russia. The last sighting of this species was a male bird in 2008, which was spotted in Hailey Mandi. “We have just two records of this species in Haryana. It is the first sighting of the female species in the state. These birds don’t travel in pairs. They usually pair to breed,” said Pankaj Gupta, a member of Delhi Bird Society.

Haryana chief minister ML Khattar CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday presented the state’s budget for the financial year 2021-22. The chief minister proposed to increase the pension for senior citizens from Rs 2,250 to 2,500 per month. The budget outlay comprises 25 per cent as capital expenditure of Rs 38,718 crore and 75 per cent as revenue expenditure of Rs 1,16,927 crore. Rs 45,066 crore has been allocated to the schemes pertaining to sustainable development goals (SDGs). “Although the Covid-19 crisis had erupted suddenly, we were able to blunt the adverse impact due to various measures taken by the government in previous years. Our government has worked extensively to make our state prepared to face any such unforeseen event. We worked on improving the health infrastructure in the state, introduced a social protection scheme like Mukhyamantri Parivar Samridhi Yojana and used technology extensively to reach the last man, said Khattar.
