The Friends of the Osterhout Library have reopened their used book shop, on the third floor of the main library at 71 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, on a reduced schedule. The shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays, by appointment, which can be made by calling the library at 570-823-0156. Inventory includes hardcover/trade books, $2; audio books, $2; paperbacks, $1; childrenâs books, two for $1; young adult books, $1, and coffee table books, priced as marked. Masks are required and social distancing will be implemented, allowing two shoppers per half hour time period. All proceeds benefit the library.

Mary Trumbower Crockett, 95, of Gettysburg, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, departed this life peacefully at home surrounded by family on Feb. 28, 2021.
Mary was born to William and Ione Trumbower in Caroline, N.Y., and grew up in Sweet Valley, Pa., where she developed her love for reading and learning that continued throughout her life.
Mary enjoyed 54 wonderful years of marriage to the late David C. Crockett. Mary married David in 1946 at Sweet Valley Church of Christ and they raised their three sons, David, William (Diane), and Robert (Kathy), in Chillum, Md. They have five grandchildren whom they spoiled with love and special outings each summer: Kenne (Andi), Laura (Jay), Kelly (Drew), Theresa (Seth), and Caroline (Chris). They also are blessed with six great-grandchildren, James, Sylvia, Shepherd, Liam, Haley, and Gryphon.

he creates a world in which complicit characters cling to each other searching for redemption. Michael recently took time out to talk to Martin Carr about his involvement and what made the project so intriguing.
What were the creative advantages of having a writer-director on this project?
I have worked with lots of writer directors and Emerald is definitely amongst the best of them. When it comes time to direct the writer leaves and she puts her other hat on, meaning that creatively you can talk intention. All of her thought processes during the writing stage and any subsequent back stories are all available. A freedom which is not always there when it is simply a director for hire.
