Charitable Organizations to Receive CARES Act Funding Pending Commissioner Approval

SWEETWATER COUNTY The Sweetwater County Commissioners will vote to approve 16 community Charitable Relief Program Grant Award agreements during their meeting Tuesday morning. The Sweetwater County Commissioners will meet at the Sweetwater County Commission Chambers at the Sweetwater County Courthouse in Green River at 8:30 am for their regularly scheduled meeting. The Charitable Organization Relief Program is a Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funded program being provided to charitable and non-profit organizations that have been impacted by the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. Those organizations then went through another review process to determine for certain which of the organizations qualified for grant reimbursement.

Sweetwater County to Vacate Abandoned Vehicle Lot

SWEETWATER COUNTY The Sweetwater County Commissioners will approve a request by Auto Recyclers for the County to vacate the abandoned vehicle lot that the company has been renting to the County for several years during their meeting Tuesday morning. The action is scheduled to take place during the Commissioners’ Tuesday meeting beginning at 8:30 am at the Sweetwater County Courthouse. The Liggett family, owners and operators of Auto Recyclers, has been helping Sweetwater County with the abandoned vehicle program since 1979. However, John Liggett brought forth persisting issues last year that needed to be resolved in order for Auto Recyclers to continue hosting the County’s abandoned vehicle.

County to Consider Applying for Development Grant for Small Business Pandemic Relief

SWEETWATER COUNTY The Sweetwater County Commissioners will consider approval Tuesday for the county to apply for the Wyoming Business Council for a Rural Development Grant to assist small businesses in recovering from the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. If approved, the grant award would be used to assist small businesses in Sweetwater County recover from the pandemic by providing consulting sessions and a webinar in collaboration with “Entrepreneurial Communities”. The project would be led by consultant Mo Collins, who would provide “short-term, high-impact” consulting sessions. According to the Commissioners’ meeting agenda and packet, the project also includes developing a “business community assessment” that could identify future courses of action to strengthen economic development in Sweetwater County.

Sweetwater County Commissioners to Hear Briefing on 2020 Fire Year

SWEETWATER COUNTY The Sweetwater County Commissioners will be hearing a Sweetwater County Fire Department briefing on the 2020 fire year, and will be taking action on a few requests from the fire department during their meeting. During the Commission meeting Tuesday at 8:30 am, Sweetwater County Fire Warden Mike Bournazian will be providing an annual briefing on the 2020 fire year. Additionally, the Commissioners will be considering the approval of hiring 14 seasonal positions for the County Fire Department. Of the 14 positions, two are nine-month positions, eight are six-month, and four are three-month positions. The seasonal personnel are to be hired March 1, 2021. The total cost for the hires will be approximately $254,700.

Castle Rock Hospital District to Discuss Plans for EMS Services in Green River

SWEETWATER COUNTY  The Castle Rock Hospital District (CRHD) Board will be discussing EMS services in Green River with the Sweetwater County Commissioners Tuesday morning. On January 19, 2021, at the Sweetwater County Courthouse, the hospital district and the Commissioners will discuss the recent cancellation of ambulance contracts. On December 15, 2020, the Sweetwater County Commissioners announced they will terminate service contracts and all associated funding with those contracts with Sweetwater Medics and Castle Rock Ambulance Service, effective March 31, 2021.
