The crash happened at about 6:05 a.m. on St. Road 16 near Inman Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. An unknown vehicle was heading west on SR 16 when it hit the elderly man on the right shoulder of the road. The vehicle left the scene following the crash, the FHP said. The 71-year-old victim is in critical condition at this time. Anyone with information on the crash should call the Florida Highway Patrol at FHP or 904-301-3700.
