INDIANA AREA, PURCHASE LINE BOARDS TO CONSIDER ’21-’22 BUDGETS By Hometown1 May 10, 2021 | 3:48 AM The Indiana Area School Board is poised to approve a tentative budget for the new fiscal year tonight. The $57.6 million plan holds the line on property taxes. The board also will vote on reappointing Jared Cronauer for a one-year term as district treasurer. Among other actions expected at tonight’s meeting are a vote to hire a new supervisor of buildings and grounds in the district; proceed with designing a new entranceway for the Eisenhower Elementary School; the acceptance of donations from the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and the faculty unions at United and Homer-Center for the Eisenhower teachers in the wake of the fire that closed the school for the rest of the academic year; and a list of 16 employees for the Summer Learning Camp program.

In an appearance on Indiana In the Morning on WCCS this week, Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said the district will work with a sense of urgency to come up with a plan to get the school back in service, but at the same time will be deliberate.  He says it’s more important to come up with a plan to address all of the Eisenhower school’s issues than to just rush to get it open again.

COUNTY SCHOOL SEEING MORE COVID-19 CASES By Hometown1 May 3, 2021 | 4:30 AM The Academic & Extra-Curricular Committee of the Indiana Area School Board is scheduled to meet tonight and among the wide-ranging agenda items is a review of the district’s Health & Safety Plan, which is good timing coming in the wake of Friday’s cancellation of all extracurricular activities over the weekend because of covid-19. The district is currently using all remote education on Fridays, so maintenance staff had a chance to give the buildings a through cleansing over the weekend. Friday’s decision at Indiana came as Indiana Area and several others Indiana County school districts concluded a week that saw an uptick in covid-19 restrictions. Penns Manor, Purchase Line, and United all reported new cases during the week, and Purchase Line reported two more cases yesterday.  Everyone who had contact with the infected students has been notified that they need to quarantine and there are n
