New Delhi, Jan 27 : Taking over the reins of the parliament canteen and ending the 52-year legacy of Northern Railways, the ITDC will serve food cooked by expert chefs of the five-star Ashok Hotel to the MPs and others from the upcoming Budget Session.
The vegetarian platter one enjoys in Ashok Hotel will be manifold cheaper in the Parliament canteen. The cost will be Rs 100 for kadai paneer, mix veg dry, bhaji, dal sultani, peas pulao, chapati, green salad, cucumber mint raita, papad and kala jamun.

After years of hiccups in efforts to end the subsidy at the parliament canteen which offered dishes like Hyderabadi Mutton Biryani at Rs 65 and boiled vegetables at Rs 12, those entrusted with the unappetising task have prevailed.
New prices announced this week show most items will be sold at par with market rates. A roti will cost Rs 3, a vegetarian meal Rs 100, and a non-vegetarian lunch buffet Rs 700. The Mutton Biryani will now come in at Rs 150 and the British heirloom of boiled vegetables Rs 50.

New Delhi, Jan 23 : Emphasising that utmost standards of sanitisation and fumigation may be made during the Budget Session commencing next week, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday directed all agencies concerned to work in unison to contain the possibility of Covid-19 infection.
Birla s direction came during inspection visits conducted at various facilities in the Parliament House complex. He visited the Lok Sabha Chamber, Central Hall, corridors, lobbies, waiting rooms and other areas in the Parliament House with officers of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, CPWD, and other agencies.
