A well thought-out political strategy coupled with some social engineering mechanism appeared to have helped the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)]-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) defy the anti-incumbency in the State.
More than what churned out the spectacular victory of LDF albeit riding on the constructive popularity of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was a combination of factors, including the rainbow coalition comprising 11 constituents, that was successfully experimented in the three-tier local body polls in December.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], May 2 (ANI): The ruling LDF appears poised to form the government in Kerala again as per the latest trends from the Election Commission with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) registering a win on 48 seats and maintaining the lead on 14 more.
Among the other constituents of LDF, CPI has won 14 seats and is leading on 3 more, Kerala Congress (M) has won four seats and is maintaining the lead on one other, NCP and Janata Dal (Secular) both won two seats each and Janadhipathya Kerala Congress also won one seat.

Kannur (Kerala) [India], May 2 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister and Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Pinarayi Vijayan won from Dharmadam Assembly constituency, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Sunday.
Apart from Vijayan, the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) appearing poised to form the government in Kerala again. CPI(M) has already registered a victory on 40 seats and leading on 22 more. LDF allies Communist Party of India has won 12 seats and leading on 5, while Kerala Congress (M) won 4 seats and leading on one.
Janadhipathiya Kerala Congress and Indian National League have also won one seat each while Janata Dal (Secular) has bagged two seats.
