KARACHI: Following up on its campaign for Karachi and its people, the Jamaat-i-Islami on Tuesday announced a protest demonstration on Feb 28 (Sunday) on New M.A. Jinnah Road and a rally from Quaidabad to Governor House on March 14.
JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman while addressing a press conference at the party headquarters Idara Noor-i-Haq said that the movement of his party for the rights of Karachi was in full swing and it would continue till the realisation of just rights of Karachiites.

KARACHI: Sindh Local Bodies Minister Nasir Hussain Shah and Education Minister Saeed Ghani on Saturday met central naib emir of Jamaat-i-Islami Asadullah Bhutto, Karachi emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and others to seek the party’s support in Sindh for the Pakistan Peoples Party’s candidate for the Senate.
The Senate elections will be held on March 3.
During the meeting held at Idara Noor-i-Haq, the ministers also discussed issues relating to the masses in Sindh, particularly Karachi, including holding of local bodies’ elections.
The JI leaders told the PPP ministers that a decision about the Senate elections would be taken after consultations with the party’s central leadership in Lahore.

KARACHI: Industrialists on Wednesday rejected the government plan of gas supply discontinuation to captive power plants (CPPs) for general industry from Feb 1 and export-oriented sectors from March 1 calling it an anti-economy move and asking political parties to play their role in saving the country’s exports.
Speaking at a press conference at the Jamaat-i-Islami’s Idara Noor-i-Haq headquarters, JI leader Hafiz Naeemur Rahman and industrialists and leaders of the SITE, Korangi, North Karachi, F. B Area and SITE-Superhighway associations sought immediate response from the federal government over their “anti-Karachi and anti-industry” move.
