Carlisle teacher s home science activities are a major success online

A TEACHER who launched a Facebook group to support home schooling parents has been stunned by the growth in users. Carlisle teacher Carrie Ann Booth set up a Facebook group during lockdown, supporting parents who are home schooling with science experiment ideas and guidance on the facts. Before lockdown three, The Science Booth Facebook group had a small but devoted following of 250 members. But in recent weeks, it has grown exponentially to around 2500. Carrie Ann said: “Grown-ups and little ones have been having so much fun with science and I’m so proud of what we have achieved. Who knows we may have even inspired a future heart surgeon!”

5 Things To Do This Weekend, Including A Lunar Year Celebration And A Late Night At The Aquarium

Both Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day are around the corner and we’ve got a round-up of events you can do with just about anyone. A loved one, a parent, a friend or your wonderful self! A virtual festival, a live-streamed concert and a talk with a notable writer it might be hard to choose which one most appeals to you. Thursday, Feb. 11 Claudia Rankine, poet, author and one of my personal favorite writers will be giving a lecture for Tufts University’s Beckwith lecture series. I discovered her writing in college; her book “Citizen: An American Lyric” was a required reading.  And I m so glad it was. It s a vital collection of poems about race. Her latest book, “Just Us: An American Conversation,” came out last year and tackles the nation s division. In this lecture, you can expect Rankine’s insightful commentary on how to begin discussions in our very own communities that will break down walls.
