The brainchild of circle officer Tashi Wangchuk Thongdok of Yazali in lower Subansiri district, the offer of free rice for those getting vaccinated in the 45-plus age group was launched on Monday and is valid till Wednesday. We are constantly trying to work out strategies to improve vaccination coverage in the circle and in the district. Till today noon, 80 people have come to receive the jabs, Thongdok, a 2016-batch APCS officer, said.

Both states attained statehood on February 20, 1987 following the 53rd Amendment of the Indian Constitution in 1986. The mountainous frontier state of Arunachal Pradesh, sanskrit for ‘land of the rising sun’, is situated in the extreme northeastern part of the country. It was formerly known as the North East Frontier Agency (NEFA) and was part of Assam until it was made a union territory in 1972 and a full-fledged state on February 20, 1987.

Security forces nab two rebels in Arunachal | Itanagar News

ITANAGAR: Security forces in Arunachal Pradesh apprehended two rebels of NSCN (I-M) and NSCN (U) and recovered arms and ammunitions from their possession. Longding district police, led by SP Vikram H M Meena, along with personnel of Sixth Assam Rifles, apprehended the UG cadres from the district on Friday evening during a joint operation, police said on Saturday. Both the rebels were involved in running an extortion racket in the district. Based on intelligence inputs about presence of the cadres, a joint operation was launched and self-styled second lieutenant Panpoh Pansa of NSCN (I-M) and self-styled private Pegang Gangsa of NSCN (U) was arrested.
