One of Two Murdered Women ID’d, Police Ask for Help
INDIANAPOLIS–Two women were shot and killed at an apartment complex near Post Rd. and 38th St., early Monday. One of those women was Ashanti Robinson, 21, said Marion County Coroner Alfie Ballew.
The other woman’s identity is being withheld from the public until her family is notified.
“Community is essential to us being able to identify perpetrators in these types of offenses and get these individuals off the streets,” said Lt. Shane Foley, with the Indianapolis Metro Police Dept.
Police were called just after midnight. When they got to the Postbrook East Apartments at 40th and Cordell Street, they found the two women shot outside the apartments.

Six People Killed in East Side Shooting
INDIANAPOLIS–Six people were killed in a Sunday morning shooting on the east side of Indianapolis, including a pregnant woman and her unborn child.
The shooting happened about 4 a.m. on Adams St., just south of the 38th and Keystone intersection. Indianapolis Metro Police Dept. Chief Randal Taylor called it the largest mass shooting in more than a decade.

Police said a child was taken to Riley Children’s Health when they arrived on scene on 36th St. Information they were able to obtain led them to the Adams St. address, where they found five people shot, including the pregnant woman.
IMPD Takeover Bill Is Government Overreach, Says Taylor
INDIANAPOLIS–A bill to allow for a five-member commission to take over governance of the Indianapolis Metro Police Dept., is government overreach, says Rep. Greg Taylor (D-Indianapolis). He also told lawmakers who don’t live in Indianapolis to stop passing bills that hurt the city.
Taylor made the remarks during the question and answer portion of Tuesday’s press conference on the Democratic agenda at the beginning of this year’s legislative session.

“We’ve already seen a plethora of bills from our colleagues on the other side of the aisle for some reason to try to micro-manage Marion County,” said Taylor. “The party that we’re fighting against is supposed to be a part of small government.”
