Gunman kills eight, takes own life at FedEx site in Indianapolis

Share A gunman shot eight people dead and injured several others at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis before taking his own life, police said early on Friday.
An Indianapolis police officer said the authorities did not feel there was an active threat to the community anymore. Today it is very heartbreaking and, you know, in the Annapolis Metro Police Department, the officers responded, they came in, they went in and they did their job, Officer Genae Cook said.
The incident occurred at a FedEx facility on Mirabel Road, Indianapolis, late on Thursday night. The facility is located close to the Indianapolis International airport.

Eight people shot and killed in Indianapolis FedEx shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Police in Indianapolis say eight people were shot and killed in a shooting late Thursday at a FedEx facility and the shooter killed himself.
A police spokesperson says multiple other people were injured and went to local hospitals.
The shooter has not been immediately identified. Police were still working at the scene conducting interviews in the early hours of Friday.
Family members have gathered at a local hotel to await word on loved ones.

Police first responded to reports of an active shooter at the building near the Indianapolis International Airport at about 11:10 p.m. Dispatchers have announced the shooting as a “mass casualty” incident.
