Project LUSS (LED-based Ultra-Violet for Safe Surfaces) awarded Innovate grant

14 May 2021 UK-based partnership of Microlink Devices, Wideblue and CSA Catapult to develop Covid-19 disinfection system. Project LUSS will exploit UV light to kill microbes and cut the spread of infection.The UK-based research initiative Project LUSS (LED based Ultra-Violet exposure for Safe Surfaces) Consortium has been awarded an Innovate UK grant to develop an economical, photonics-based solution to combat Covid-19 infection in public spaces, with the added ability to also disinfect surfaces of other viruses and bacteria. MicroLink Devices as lead industrial partner, with support from WideBlue and the UK’s Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult (CSA Catapult) will develop an automatically self-cleaning door panel, exploiting UV light to kill viruses/bacteria and prevent the spread of infection.
