District 1 – Baudette area
CO Demosthenes Regas (Blackduck) reports working ATVing enforcement and angling activity throughout this past week. The warm weather brought out lots of anglers. Violations encountered and addressed this past week included several violations for operating ATVs in restricted areas of the Chippewa National Forest and on nonmotorized trails, and angling license violations.
CO Corey Sura (Baudette) spent most of his time this past week on Lake of the Woods, and was joined by several other officers from throughout the state. Sura also spent time reviewing a variety of required online training.
CO Ben Huener (Roseau) checked walleye and pike anglers on Lake of the Woods. Conditions are deteriorating fast, and some accesses are already being shut down.

District 5 Eveleth area
Conservation Officer Darrin Kittelson (International Falls 1) reports that last weekend was most likely the end of snowmobile trail riding for the season. Lots of people were out ice fishing and enjoying the warm and sunny weather. Approximately 30 area youth were trained and received their snowmobile safety certification.
Enforcement action for the week included angling license violations and ATV and snowmobile registration issues.
CO Curtis Simonson (International Falls 2) reports spending time last week checking ice anglers on area lakes. People are starting to have some success fishing on area lakes. Simonson would like to remind people to remain safe on the ice and be aware the ice will disappear fast with the warm weather we are having.

Conservation Officer Darrin Kittelson (International Falls 1) reports with the lack of snow and the warmer weather, the area snowmobile trails have taken a hit. However, people were still out enjoying the outdoors.
Ice fishing on area lakes stayed the same. People are reminded with the warmer weather it’s a great time to think about cleaning up around fish houses and preparing them to be removed.
CO Curtis Simonson (International Falls 2) reports spending time this past week checking ice anglers and patrolling snowmobile activity on area trails. Simonson would like remind people to make sure you get a current fishing license before heading out on the water to fish.
