COVID cases still increasing; take precautions Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Brown County’s total COVID-19 case numbers nearly doubled. At Thanksgiving, our count was 351; on Christmas Eve, it was 658. By Dec. 28, Brown County’s total cases since March numbered 693 and total deaths were at eight. Four of those eight deaths have occurred since Thanksgiving. For the sixth straight week, the Indiana State Department of Health put Brown County in “red” status or under “red” restrictions the highest level based on community spread of the virus. Twenty-three other counties also are at red, many of them rural counties. In response to the “recent COVID surge in this area,” the Nashville McDonald’s switched to drive-thru and curbside pickup only starting Dec. 22, closing its indoor dining and carry-out options. These limits will continue while the county is on red status, the restaurant announced on its Facebook page.
