John DiRubba fell hard for Valerie Cincinelli. He can’t really explain it, just love at first sight.
He was living in Queens, and she was a police officer assigned to the local precinct. One day while she was out on patrol she stopped when she saw him washing his car. They began to chat, and she told him she was married.

Valerie Cincinelli, 36, was charged with murder for hire and obstruction
In 2019, she asked her boyfriend to hire a hitman to kill her husband
They were in a bitter divorce at the time and were arguing over custody of their son
The boyfriend was caught up in another crime and confessed to the plot once in custody
She was charged and taken into custody but has taken a plea deal which means she will only admit obstruction of justice
The government is asking for a sentence of 60 months for her - a tenth of what she had been facing
She will be sentenced on October 29
The lawyer for former City cop Valerie Cincinelli (c.), who has been charged with scheming to employ a hitman to murder her estranged husband and the minor daughter of her boyfriend, recently sent a letter to the presiding judge requesting an adjournment, effectively postponing what appears to be a hearing in which she’s set to enter a plea of guilty.
“I write to respectfully request that the change of plea hearing scheduled for March 5, 2021 be adjourned for 45-days. We are currently in the process of finalizing Ms. Cincinelli’s status with the New York Police Department which must be done prior to the entry of her plea,” attorney James Kousouros wrote to the Hon. Sandra Feuerstein. “I have consulted with the government concerning this request and the government has no objection.”
