We ve rounded up six trailblazing female Irish artists who continue to inspire, encourage and make their mark on women s rights every day. Denise Chaila Fast-rising Limerick star Denise Chaila has been making waves in the music industry since the release of her infectiously catchy chart-topping hit single,  Chaila, which was released last summer. Just mere months later, her powerful debut album,  Go Bravely, lit up the music scene, with many praising the talented artist for her flowing lyrics covering themes of identity, belonging and sexism.

I think staring into a cup of tea because of nerves has got to be one of the most Irish things I ve heard in awhile. Within the music industry and particularly amidst those involved in the Why Not Her movement there has been much celebration since it was announced that Chaila had won the award. The Why Not Her movement aims to help boost the visibility of women working in the music industry as there is still very little representation of Irish female musicians in the Irish charts. Denise Chaila and Niall Horan take top gongs at RTÉ Choice Music Awards Reporter:   ); Limerick artist Denise Chaila has been announced as the winner of the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Album of the Year 2020 for her album Go Bravely, while Mullingar native Niall Horan s No Judgement scooped Song of the Year. U2 s Adam Clayton made the announcement live after the judging panel, made up of Irish music media professionals and chaired by Jim Carroll, met up over Zoom to decide on the winning album.  Chaila received a cheque for €10,000, a prize which has been provided by the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA), as well as a specially- commissioned award.
