Northwest BachFest 2021 Celebrates Bach and Bailey The 44th inception of Northwest BachFest is here, once again featuring its acclaimed artistic director triple Grammy-winning cellist Zuill Bailey for a series of performances, this time all in the virtual sphere. As a performer, Bailey aspires to involve community in his performances and make music accessible to all, especially children. For this year’s festival, Bailey is showcased in a series of recently filmed performances of Bach’s Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello the famous composition is widely considered the quintessential music for the instrument in a nod to his 2010 chart-topping record of the suites. BachFest viewers can get a glimpse of Bailey performing select movements from the suites, filmed last fall at Hamilton Studio and West Central Abbey in Spokane. Green Room Series - Bridge & Wolak The Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center is hosting the free Green Room Series, a virtual series of personal, behind-the-scenes time with artists from around the globe. Bridge & Wolak are an internationally-acclaimed music and comedy duo, integrating traditional acoustic instruments with 21st century digital technology. They perform their own uniquely re-imagined repertoire of classical, world and jazz fusion. They were nominated for the BC Touring Artist of the Year award in 2019.
Valentine’s Day Dinner & Serenade from the Spokane Symphony
Symphony Concertmaster/Lead Violinist Mateusz Wolski. The symphony is partnering with Beacon Hill Catering to provide a chef-prepared meal for two (pick up at the Fox box office on Feb. 14 from 1-4 pm). Ordering deadline is Feb. 10 at 6 pm. The gourmet dinner comes with a 12-minute virtual video musical serenade from Spokane Symphony Concertmaster/Lead Violinist Mateusz Wolski and pianist Archie Chen. Selections include Massenet’s romantic classical piece, “Meditation from Thaïs,” Monti’s passionate fiddle music, “Czardas,” plus one other piece.
Beacon Hill’s meal is ready to heat and serve. Purchasers also have the option of adding a bottle of wine from Barrister Winery. An easy-to-use video link comes with each meal purchase, and will be emailed.
