UAE cuts thousands of food prices for Ramadan

File picture The cost of 30,000 food items in the UAE will be reduced during the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Ministry of Economy said. A total of 420 inspections will be carried out to make sure store holders do not attempt to impose price hikes. Meat, fish, rice, sugar and flour will be included in the reductions at 900 shops nationwide. The ministry says the discounts will range from 25 to 75 per cent.

Iraqi Prime Minister Al Kadhimi calls UAE land of success

Dr. Mustafa Al Kadhimi has said that the UAE is a land of success, expressing his appreciation for the country’s honorable stance towards Iraq and its people. Mustafa Al Kadhimi, who arrived in the emirates on an official visit on Sunday, noted that the UAE contributed to the reconstruction of Iraq and in the fight against IS. I am happy to be in my second country, the Emirates, with which we share so much, said Al Kadhimi. He also praised the country’s help with rebuilding the historic Great Mosque of al-Nuri in Mosul. Al Kadhimi went on to praise the stances of the country’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, towards Iraq, and his keenness to preserve the security, stability and prosperity of its people.

RTA increases capacity in three red line metro stations in Dubai

Supplied Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has completed 74 per cent of improvement works in three Red Line metro stations in the city. According to the transport authority, the goal is to increase capacity in the Dubai Internet City, Dubai Marina and UAE Exchange stations by 215 per cent, 179 per cent and 259 per cent respectively. US Climate Envoy commends UAE projects ahead of Regional Dialogue

WAM The US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, has been visiting several of the UAE’s clean energy projects before today s first Regional Climate Dialogue in Abu Dhabi. On Saturday, Kerry toured the world’s largest single-site solar site, Noor Abu Dhabi, with Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE’s Special Envoy for Climate Change and Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology. He also visited Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence and Jubail Mangrove Park. The day’s activities included a tour of other key solar installations, including Shams 1, one of the largest concentrated solar power plants in the world, where US Special Envoy for Climate Kerry was briefed on the upcoming 2 GW Al Dhafra Solar Project, which recently set a new record for the lowest solar power tariff at 1.35 cents/kWh.
