Fernie students celebrate Earth Day
To celebrate Earth Day on Wednesday, April 21, Grade 5 and 6 students from Fernie’s École Isabella Dicken Elementary School displayed upcycled creations for their school to see.
These students were challenged to create something new from items headed to the trash or recycling through Beyond Recycling’s Trash to Treasure challenge.
Students created some amazing things. We had recycled one string guitars and drums, a trampoline from old tires tubes, woven rugs and saddles pads from plastic bags, a blanket from old t-shirts, recycled paper “bean bag” chair, wind chimes from old bike parts, plant holders, a sundial, fishing hooks made from pop cans, a bench, a bookshelf, a bike rack, a coat rack, trampoline skis, pencil holders, candy dispensers, a milk jug garden and so much more.
