Public voting has opened for the 2021
female drummers and percussionists.
Supporters can now cast votes for their favorite contestants. They can submit one vote per person per day through April 25 at 11:59 p.m. PST by logging in to the Hit Like A Girl website.
This year’s contest features a strong group of musicians from across the globe. The contest is open to all women, girls and gender expansive individuals. There are no age limits because the international contest is broken down into four age groups: under 13, 13-17, 18-39 and over 40. The Beatmaking category includes under 18 and over 18.
The contestants include U.S.-based drummer Isabelle De Leon, who is competing in the 18-39 age bracket. Raised in a musical family and trained in jazz at the University of Maryland, De Leon has played in a number of successful bands including Ivy Rose and IZA FLO. De Leon was also invited to participate in Oprah Winfrey’s 2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus tour with the band Daybreaker. F

To us, Mr. Icban was not only the editor-in-chief of Manila Bulletin, he was an icon in Philippine journalism respected by government and private sector leaders, adored like a rock star by journalism students who had the privilege to sit in one of his impromptu lectures, and in the newsroom, he was the boss who started the afternoon with the story conference.
Last Monday, April 5, 2021, our treasure and national icon in journalism, Crispulo M. Icban Jr., passed away. He was 85 years old.
It would be an understatement to say that he had touched many lives. In the 47 years that he worked with the Manila Bulletin, Mr. Icban had inspired at least two generations of working journalists and could-have-been newsmen.

In an Instagram post on Monday, the actress shared photos of herself when she entered Little Miss Philippines, an iconic segment on Eat Bulaga. Kim can be seen all glammed up and wearing a floral crown in the throwback photos. She previously said that she finished fourth runner-up in the competition back in 2000.
