The proposed Kitimat LNG project in northern B.C. seems doomed, with both joint-venture partners now wanting out.
On Tuesday, Australian energy giant Woodside Petroleum said it wanted to divest its half-share in the project, including its stake in the proposed Pacific Trails pipeline from the Liard Basin gas field in Alberta/B.C. to a four-stack processing facility in Bish Cove, close to Kitimat.

The news came a month after Chevron Woodside’s joint-venture partner reported it would not spend any more money on the project. Chevron has been trying to sell its share of the project since December 2019.
