The Ovens River Challenge 2021 3 March 2021
AFTER missing 2020 because of COVID, The Ovens River Challenge is on again for 2021!
This event is run jointly by the Australian Trout Foundation and Native Fish Australia and combines citizen science with a fun fishing event where you can win some modest prizes, with special giveaways of rods and gear to junior anglers. It is catch and release only and all fish caught are released. It will be held on the 20th & 21st March 2021.
Save the date and sign up for a fun weekend while helping the native and trout fisheries. You will also be financially supporting businesses in the region which were badly affected due to COVID travel restrictions.

Fishing clubs and community groups across Victoria will have more access to funds to improve fishing in their local area thanks to a new category of Recreational Fishing Grants.
Minister for Fishing and Boating Melissa Horne said the new intermediate category of grants was funded by fishing licence fees and complements the Andrews Labor Government’s $35 million Target One Million plan, to get more people fishing, more often, in more places.
The new intermediate grants category will be open year-round for applications from fishing clubs and not-for-profit community groups. Grants will be available for projects valued between $5,000 and $50,000 will be run alongside the existing small and large grants programs.
