Payments technology company Novatti is tapping investors for $45 million, in part to fund the purchase of a 15 per cent stake in practice management software company Reckon.
Novatti has appointed Petra Capital as the sole lead manager and the raise will be comprised of three tranches - a $40 million institutional placement over two tranches and a share purchase plan for retail investors of up to $5 million.
Reckon shares jumped on Wednesday on news that Novatti was acquiring a significant stake.
Shares are on offer at 55¢ per share - a 14.1 per cent discount to Novatti’s last close price, and a 17.2 per cent discount to its five day volume-weighted average price.

Sydney has been named as the host for the Australian Physiotherapy Association’s (APA) national conference Physiotherapy 2023, taking BESydney’s bid wins for the city to 10 year to date, as the confidence to meet increases and businesses confirm their in-person meetings.
Whilst the global tourism market continues to navigate the impacts of COVID-19, BESydney has continued to secure events for the city, with these 10 events set to attract 14,450 delegates and generate an estimated $46m in direct expenditure to the NSW economy.
The national APA conference alone is expected to attract 1,800 delegates over three days in October 2023 at the ICC Sydney, with an estimated direct expenditure of $4.8 million.

âI think it is a rotten idea,â Lambert, 46, says. âThe NDIA should bugger off and leave people with disability with enough money to be able to live an ordinary life like everyone else in Australia.â
Lambert, who took part in an independent assessments pilot scheme with her mother, Laurel, lives with cerebral palsy, an intellectual disability, a hearing impairment and epilepsy.
The new mandatory but free assessments will begin in the middle of the year and will apply to new applicants and, later, the 440,000 participants already on the scheme.
The National Disability Insurance Agency insists they are aimed at addressing consistency issues and inequality within the scheme, not cutting costs or reducing package sizes.
