City of Austin Honors Entrepreneurs with Business Skills Certification

AUSTIN, TX - City of Austin Economic Development Department recognizes 30 local entrepreneurs and small business employees who earned a Business Skills Certification on Friday, July 23 with a virtual ceremony.  Recipients were required to complete six training classes designed to strengthen skills needed to successfully manage and grow a small business. The classes were offered through a partnership with The University of Texas at Austin Center for Professional Education (UT CPE).   “We are delighted that so many current and future entrepreneurs were able to increase their business acumen even during a pandemic. This speaks to the resiliency of small businesses.” explains Sylnovia Holt-Rabb, Acting Director of the Economic Development Department. “Austin continues to be a great place for small business creation and we are here to help.”

City of Austin easing COVID regulations for special events permits By FOX 7 Austin Digital Team Published  The guidance, which outlines COVID-19 health and safety considerations, are recommendations only.  While the City of Austin says The COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan is still a required form to complete as part of the special events permit application they have eased restrictions. Now, the content of the form is shorter, and the details requested in the plan are recommendations only.  Once you submit the form, Austin Public Health will review the safety plan and will provide input to help organizers have a COVID-safe event. 

Special Events Reopening Guidelines Relax in Response to New Public Health Recommendations for COVID-19

Start Journey to Bring Events Back to Normal in Austin and Travis County This week Austin Center for Events (ACE) will begin revising the Bringing Events Back: Event Reopening Guide and the COVID-19 Health and Safety Form currently required for Special Events Applications.   Revisions to the guide and application process will take effect next week. Applicants can anticipate changes to the social distancing requirements and masking requirements to incorporate the latest Rules. Providing proof of vaccine for patrons will not be a requirement for event applicants. Any pre-admission proof of vaccine protocols will be up to event organizers to determine.
