Show Transcript when Ashley Web and her husband moved to New Orleans from Los Angeles, they immediately knew something was missing in the ninth ward neighborhood. And I was used to like grocery stores being just around the corner and then we moved here and there weren t the nearest store, a 10 minute drive. So the couple began cultivating a plan and since we were already doing some gardening in Los Angeles we decided to just get a garden plot here.

Brown University announced an anonymous $25 million gift to the University that “will fuel scientific discovery and help innovative new ideas in brain science get off the ground.”
The university says the donation is intended to allow Brown to attract and retain world-class teachers and scholars, and it will endow an innovation awards program at the University’s Robert J. and Nancy D. Carney Institute for Brain Science to provide seed funding for new high-impact research in computation and other areas of brain science.

The latest major investment in Brown’s cutting-edge brain science research, the generous gift will support computational brain science and endow a program to promote innovative research. Alex Jaworski, an assistant professor of brain science, received an innovation award for a project that has addressed long-standing questions about how neurons find their way to their appropriate targets as an organism develops.
